Lorilee has been reading a series of novels that take place in the Amish community. Hershey Park is a short drive from Lancaster County and the heart of Amish country. Joel’s family moved here when he was in college, but this was a first for Lorilee. She was amazed at their way of life. The horses were beautiful. We visited “The Amish Experience” - a farmhouse set up for tourists to see how the Amish live and work. It was surprising to see how modern they really are. We also made a quick trip to Joel’s former employer (New Holland Tractor), and even got to see his old “office” - a field where he operated tractors, loaders, and backhoes for eight hours a day.
